This collection of paintings was put together out of a passion for Australia’s contemporary indigenous art. We have the world’s oldest surviving people and yet they are producing some of the most contemporary art in the world.Using traditional techniques of dot painting and geometric abstraction which are typical of Central Australian artists they have created colourful and powerful paintings which look very modern and at the same time provide insight into the ancient landscape and culture of Australia’s Aboriginals.
Most of the paintings come from the Central and Western Deserts in isolated communities dotted around a 500km radius from Alice Springs and Uluru. Some are produced by people like the Tjapaltjarri brothers who were part of the ‘lost tribe’ who emerged from the desert in the 1980s without previously having had any contact with Western society.
“Even though most of the work was created by proud desert people sitting on their native ground applying paint to canvas by brush, stick and hand, those finished canvases look right at home on walls of contemporary galleries, museums, offices and private homes all around the world”
- David Hinchliffe, Renowned Brisbane Artist

We were overwhelmed getting so much attention in a city hotel. You really feel welcome at the Manor. - Rolf
Our daughter has been studying/working in Brisbane since 2015. We visit her 3-4 times a year (if not more) and always stay at the Manor because the service is simply awesome, it’s so central to the city and it’s become a home away from home! - Adie & Azlan
The manor apartment lends itself as a stately heritage house, allowing you to ‘step back in time’ and appreciate a certain regality that comes with quality & comfort. This apartment hotel & it’s prime position in Brisbane gives a sense of the presence of gentry still within its dwellings. The communal breakfast room serves a delicious gourmet of morning treats & provides a warm & sunny vista to start your day. The rooms are spacious & airy, making your stay feel like a ‘home away from home’. These quarters are more than livable they are a fine example of the desired property we all seek to reside in. - Anita H
What a wonderful experience. Beautiful rooms, fantastic location and very helpful staff. Room was spotless. Best place to stay in Brisbane. Thank you for having our family. - Stu Holman
It was so good we stayed twice! Amazing apartments with a great central location . Close to central train station, supermarkets, restaurants and the fab shopping in Queen Street. Breakfast was gorgeous, especially the pancakes with maple syrup. We had a superior one bed apartment which was spacious and filled with light. The bed pillows and bed were the best we have ever slept on. - Emma Jackson
